  • The first session typically begins with the psychologist going over important paperwork, including personal information and consent forms covering confidentiality, fees, and session details. If referred by a GP or psychiatrist, the details of the Mental Health Treatment Plan are discussed. The remaining session time is dedicated to discussing the issues prompting therapy, delving into background history such as family, social relationships, work history, and past counseling. The psychologist aims to gain a thorough understanding of the concerns and collaboratively develops a flexible plan for future therapy sessions if time allows.
